STORY

told in stills

I’m a wannabe badass based out of…well…where ever I lay my head. Let me explain. For work and play, the past few year has taken me from Colorado to Australia to New Zealand to Boston and now to Iowa while I “land” for a while until I take off again to Africa in October. Safe to say, traveling is what drives me and I’m constantly scheming up ways to see the world. Photography has been the biggest blessing while I embark on these crazy adventures and each place I go and person I meet deserves to be documented. I believe that our experiences are what shapes us into who we are and that the moment we stop challenging ourselves is the moment we stop growing.
Although I'm OBSESSED with the grandiose of the Colorado Rockies and the endless activities they offer, I’m a midwestern chick at heart. I grew up in Iowa and didn’t see the ocean until my senior year in college - ask my friends how many times I drunk cried at a bar for this very reason. I thiiink this contributes to the wanderlust. "Middlechild" may as well be my middle name. I’ve never met a food I didn’t like, chances are if it’s edible, I’m eating it.
My faith in God is the single most important thing to me in the world. I was lucky to be raised in church but even more so to have rediscovered my savior as an adult.

So, why wedding photography?

I first picked up a camera about three years ago. I fell fast and I fell hard. It was the gulf of Mississippi in the fall and everywhere I looked were lush greenery, blue water and Katrina wreckage. Landscapes were my first love and I could (and still can) spend entire days alone with just my camera, using it to capture every beautiful detail God placed before my eyes.
You know, I never thought I'd be a wedding photographer. However, it snuck up on me when a friend offered the opportunity to second shoot one of his weddings. Needless to say, I fell in love AGAIN with this craft, but this time in a more meaningful and connected way. Landscapes are fun, yes, but there's something to be said about capturing someone's "Best day of their life." The emotions, the laughter, the looks.. the FOOD! Only slightly kidding about that last one. All in all, I've found that couples in love are my absolute favorite subjects to photograph and the ability to create something meaningful for them to have their entire lives gives me butterflies.
I take my job very seriously but will be right there laughing and smiling with you the entire day... and probably while I'm editing your photos too.

Okay, that's great, but what's your style?

I'll preface by saying, I’m not the photographer for everyone. I’m not so much into the stiff/stagnant poses. Oh, we’ll still get the all of the traditional family formals for grandma but you can bet your booty I’m going to make you all do a goofy one too. :) Lately I've been digging more and more into documentary style photography for my weddings and couples. I want to capture you in your element, in your most natural. To me, that's where each relationship's unique essence is found and uncovered.
So, If you're adventurous, thrill seeking and not afraid to get a little tousled and embrace your inner child and the beautiful world around you, then I’m your girl.
